Professional Development for teachers

We offer 1.25 hour sessions for after-school sessions; these are enjoyable and encouraging, offering you tips and knowledge on how to support your students' understanding of their bodies and selves.

Longer professional development sessions are developed in consultation with you, to ensure we address the teaching and learning needs of your school community.

Support for you as a teacher with our program

From the planning and delivery to assistance with how to approach sensitive topics, we work with teachers and parents to create programs that holistically address the needs of your student groups. This converts to a warm and welcoming approach to professional development for teachers, to support them in practical preparation for conversations about sensitive topics.

We provide briefing, progress and debriefing sessions with teachers. We prepare lesson plans for teachers to review and discuss in advance. We encourage them to participate in classes, contributing wherever they feel comfortable. (Typically, teachers are contributing a lot more, and more comfortably, by the end of the program!) As we progress, we work with staff to ensure specific individual and class needs are being met.

We’re happy to work with you to create the best option for group size and timetable management, based on your preference.  The cost of program delivery hours incorporates the cost of the additional preparation work. This includes:

  • Briefing and information sessions for class teachers, including adapting of material to suit the your curriculum
  • Preparation of program structure and content, including session plans
  • Use of our training resources and assistance for teachers
  • Invitation and information documents for parents
  • Debrief meeting with staff, in addition to feedback during the program

Structure and number of delivery hours

We usually offer a minimum 4 and up to 10 week program (see our section on why we believe delivering multiple delivery sessions is so important. We have a range of options on the number of delivery hours, and we’re happy to adapt the program to meet your needs and budget.
  • For all levels and abilities, we offer single-sex sessions in the middle of the program
  • Duration of each session: 2 hours
  • Class teachers to share classroom delivery with Robin and Janoel facilitating the learning
  • We are also happy to adapt our program around the needs of your cohort and community

We will provide prepared lesson plans and support for class teachers, which provides great opportunity for their professional development.

We offer parent information sessions prior to the program being delivered.  Even if we do not get many parents attending, it’s a great opportunity for the staff to hear some parent voice regarding the structure and content of the program.

For families to get age-appropriate program content and discussion, we can run an evening where we have two or more consecutive times for parents and carers. For example, F-2 parents and carers come at 6.00- 7.30, and those for 3/4 students meet at 7.45 – 9.15pm.
